Here are four fun facts about the Odditorium and its founder, Robert Ripley.

1. Ripley’s Believe It or Not began as a comic strip in 1919.

Robert Ripley got his start as a newspaper cartoonist in 1918 with a series about sports called Champs and Chumps. Within a year, the comic transformed into a feature about fantastic and unusual facts and changed its named to Ripley’s Believe It or Not.

2. Robert Ripley visited 201 countries.    

As his comic strip became more and more successful, Robert Ripley expanded his brand into radio, television, and museums. He also travelled the world to learn new facts and to collect exotic objects to bring back to the United States.

3. The Odditorium has over 500 bizarre artifacts.

From shrunken heads to two headed calves, the Odditorium has an extensive collection of offbeat objects from all over the planet. Be sure to keep an eye out for original artwork, including an engraving of James Brown made out of a phone book, and a Bob Marley portrait made from cassette tapes.

4. The Odditorium is smartphone compatible.
