Holiday cheer can be found just about anywhere in the Smoky Mountains this time of year. There are 3 areas celebrating the holiday with Winterfest events. The events are right around the corner, so it’s time to start your vacation planning! Here’s the details:
On November 12, Pigeon Forge is hosting it’s 24th annual Winterfest event. Beginning at 4:30 p.m., the 3rd annual Salute to Veterans Parade will take place. The Parade will end at Patriot Park, where all of the holiday festivities will begin at 5 p.m. When the night falls, the town is set to light over 5 million holiday lights, followed by an exciting display of fireworks!
Also on November 12, the city of Sevierville will be celebrating their Winterfest event. The kick off for their 2013 event, ‘Music, Lights and Magic,’ will begin at 5 p.m. The event takes place at the municipal complex downtown, where families can experience games, live entertainment and delicious foods. The Sevierville event will also end in a fireworks display that will begin around 9 p.m. Be sure to purchase a pair of 3D glasses at the Sevierville Visitor Center, so you can take a look at the extra sparkle of the bright lights!
Gatlinburg is starting off the season on November 13 with their Winter Magic Kickoff and Chili Cookoff. Their popular Winterfest event is perfect for families looking to warm up this holiday season. The chili cookoff begins at 5 p.m. and guests are welcome to sample as much as they’d like before casting a vote for their favorite, nominating them for the People’s Choice Award. More than 1 million LED lights will switched on at the event, covering the city of Gatlinburg!
If you can’t make it to the Smoky Mountains for the main events, don’t worry! The lights will remain lit through February, so vacationers can see all of the brightly colored displays throughout the entire holiday season!
