The holiday season comes alive in Gatlinburg as more than $1.6 million in custom designed holiday light displays brighten up the town! Enjoy a special tour of these spectacular Christmas lights in Gatlinburg on the Trolley Ride of Lights. Read on for everything you need to know about this Smoky Mountain tradition.
The Trolley Ride of Lights is a fun-filled 45 minute tour of Gatlinburg’s amazing Christmas light displays. The beautiful twinkling light displays reflect the unique environment of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, with depictions of local wildlife such as deer, bears, rabbits and foxes. In addition, guests can look forward to seeing traditional holiday scenes such as jolly snowmen, evergreen forest trees, and a rocking horse.
Gatlinburg recently converted their entire winter lights program to quarter-watt LED bulbs, replacing the former 5-watt incandescent bulbs. In addition to providing a spectacular appearance, the new LED bulbs are saving the city approximately 95 percent in energy costs. Therefore, the City of Gatlinburg can now light the full 120 days of the program for the same price as it previously cost to run just three days of the program.
